Biotium DAPI, dilactate (4’, 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole, dilactate)
DAPI (4′,6-Diamidino-2-Phenylindole, dilactate) is a popular blue DNA dye that is used as a nuclear counterstain in fluorescence microscopy, chromosome staining and flow cytometry. DAPI (dilactate) powder is more water soluble than dihydrochloride salt, and therefore a better choice for preparing aqueous stock solutions. The dye binds to the minor groove of dsDNA with approximately 20-fold fluorescence enhancement, with higher affinity for A-T rich regions. DAPI may be used in fixed cells or in live cells at higher concentrations. The dye has an excitation/emission of 358/461 nm. GelGreen is a sensitive, stable and environmentally safer alternative to the highly toxic ethidium bromide (EB) for staining dsDNA, ssDNA or RNA in agarose or polyacrylamide gels. The blue fluorescent Hoechst dye is a cell permeable nucleic acid stain that has multiple applications, including sensitive detection of DNA in the presence of RNA in agarose gels, automated DNA determination, sensitive determination of cell number and chromosome sorting. Useful vital stain for the flow cytometric recognition of DNA damage and other viability measurements by monitoring the emission spectral shifts of the dyes. Because this fluorescent stain labels DNA, it can also be used to visualize nuclei and mitochondria. Hoechst 34580 can be excited by violet laser at 405 nm, and emit blue/cyan fluorescence light around an emission maximum at ~440 nm. It is cell-permeable and an excellent tool for flow cytometry studies.

Fluoro-Hance increases sensitivity of gel images on x-ray film up to 10 times. High resolution images are produced from polyacrylamide or agarose gels containing low level beta emitters such as 14C, 3H, and 35S. Fluoro-Hance contains a high efficiency scintillator system that produces a large number of photons when exposed to beta isotopes. This technique allows detection of weak beta emitters such as 14C, 35S and 3H.

NucSpot 470 is a cell membrane-impermeant green fluorescent DNA stain. It is virtually non-fluorescent in the absence of DNA, but fluoresces bright green upon DNA binding. While other green nucleic acid stains like TOTO, TO-PRO, or SYTOX dyes stain both the nucleus and cytoplasm, NucSpot 470 specifically stains the nucleus of fixed and permeabilized cells. Gel Loading Dye, Blue (6X) is a Bromophenol Blue-based loading dye offering convenient gel loading and sharp bands. You may also be interested in our Gel Loading Dye, Purple (6X) with and without SDS, for sharp bands and no UV shadow.
