Biotium DAPI, dilactate (4’, 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole, dilactate)
DAPI (4′,6-Diamidino-2-Phenylindole, dilactate) is a popular blue DNA dye that is used as a nuclear counterstain in fluorescence microscopy, chromosome staining and flow cytometry. DAPI (dilactate) powder is more water soluble than dihydrochloride salt, and therefore a better choice for preparing aqueous stock solutions. The dye binds to the minor groove of dsDNA with approximately 20-fold fluorescence enhancement, with higher affinity for A-T rich regions. DAPI may be used in fixed cells or in live cells at higher concentrations. The dye has an excitation/emission of 358/461 nm. Biotium GelGreen Nucleic Acid Stain, 10,000X in water (trial size)
GelGreen is a sensitive, stable and environmentally safer alternative to the highly toxic ethidium bromide (EB) for staining dsDNA, ssDNA or RNA in agarose or polyacrylamide gels. The dye is noncytotoxic, nonmutagenic and nonhazardous at concentrations used in gel staining. It can be conveniently disposed down the drain or in regular trash at working concentrations, reducing disposal costs. It is much more sensitive than EB or SYBR Safe and extremely stable for long-term room temperature storage. Simple to use in precast or post-electrophoresis gel staining. Compatible with a UV transilluminator, gel reader or scanner with visible light, blue LED, or 488 nm laser-based excitation; replaces SYBR with no optical setting change. AdipoGen Hoechst 34580 Solution (5 ml)
Chemical. CAS: 911004-45-0. Formula: C27H29N7 · 3HCl. MW: 560.95. The Hoechst stains are a family of fluorescent stains for labeling DNA in fluorescence microscopy. The blue fluorescent Hoechst dye is a cell permeable nucleic acid stain that has multiple applications, including sensitive detection of DNA in the presence of RNA in agarose gels, automated DNA determination, sensitive determination of cell number and chromosome sorting. Useful vital stain for the flow cytometric recognition of DNA damage and other viability measurements by monitoring the emission spectral shifts of the dyes. Because this fluorescent stain labels DNA, it can also be used to visualize nuclei and mitochondria. Hoechst 34580 can be excited by violet laser at 405 nm, and emit blue/cyan fluorescence light around an emission maximum at ~440 nm. It is cell-permeable and an excellent tool for flow cytometry studies.
Biotium Hoechst 33342, 10mg/mL in H2O
Hoechst dyes are cell membrane-permeant, minor groove-binding blue fluorescent DNA stains. These dyes are widely used in cell cycle and apoptosis studies as nuclear counterstains. Hoechst 33528 is slightly more water soluble than Hoechst 33342. The dyes can be used to stain live or fixed cells in buffer or medium at 1 ug/mL, with no wash step required. Fluoro-Hance increases sensitivity of gel images on x-ray film up to 10 times. High resolution images are produced from polyacrylamide or agarose gels containing low level beta emitters such as 14C, 3H, and 35S. Fluoro-Hance contains a high efficiency scintillator system that produces a large number of photons when exposed to beta isotopes. This technique allows detection of weak beta emitters such as 14C, 35S and 3H.
Fluoro-Hance is an aqueous formula and does not contain acetic acid, DMSO, or hydrocarbon solvents which are potential hazards and can also cause distortion of the gel bands.

Biotium NucSpot 470, 1000X in DMSO
NucSpot 470 is a cell membrane-impermeant green fluorescent DNA stain. It is virtually non-fluorescent in the absence of DNA, but fluoresces bright green upon DNA binding. While other green nucleic acid stains like TOTO, TO-PRO, or SYTOX dyes stain both the nucleus and cytoplasm, NucSpot 470 specifically stains the nucleus of fixed and permeabilized cells. It also can be used to selectively stain dead cells in living cultures. NucSpot 470 has an excitation/emission of 460/546 nm and can be imaged using standard settings for FITC. Gel Loading Dye, Blue (6X) is a Bromophenol Blue-based loading dye offering convenient gel loading and sharp bands. You may also be interested in our Gel Loading Dye, Purple (6X) with and without SDS, for sharp bands and no UV shadow. Gel Loading Dye, Blue (6X) is a pre-mixed loading buffer with one tracking dye for agarose and non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. This solution contains SDS, which often results in sharper bands, as some restriction enzymes are known to remain bound to DNA following cleavage. EDTA is also included to chelate magnesium (up to 10 mM) in enzymatic reactions, thereby stopping the reaction. Bromophenol Blue is the standard tracking dye for electrophoresis. It migrates at approximately 300 bp on a standard 1% TBE agarose gel. This product is packaged as 4x1 ml vials.
